FAQ's About Our Prices and Policies |
Q: What are your prices? |
A: Puppies are priced individually, usually based on gender, color and coat. Prices are with a spay/neuter agreement. Our approximate prices are as follows:
prices$600 - $750 Blacks (no markings)
prices$700 - $900 Phantoms, sables, black with white markings, buffs, creams
prices$900 - $1200 Reds, apricots, merles, partis, chocolates
Coat type (curly vs. straight; shedding vs. non-shedding) cannot be determined until the puppies are at least 6 weeks old. Before that, we are only making an educated guess. Also, coat colors are not always fully evident until the puppy is 6-10 months old. We cannot guarantee adult coat type or color. The only thing we can guarantee is gender. |

Q: What is your guarantee? |
A: Please read our entire Guarantee. It is part of the contract that you sign when you purchase your puppy. |
Q: Do you ship your puppies? |
| |
A: We prefer not to ship our puppies, so if it is at all possible to pick up your puppy, please try to make arrangements to do so. Airline policy will not allow puppies to be shipped until they are 8 weeks old. Shipping is an additional $350. We do NOT sell or ship internationally. Please be aware that restrictions apply in extreme cold or hot weather and some airports do not accept pets. If that is the case, your puppy may have to be shipped to a different airport than the one you requested or you can fly to an airport near us to pick up your puppy. |

Q: Are you willing to deliver to nearby cities? |
| |
A: We are located near Greenville, SC, and sometimes our puppies are raised in Columbia, SC. Please contact us for specific pick-up locations. For an added charge, delivery options are sometimes available to Columbia, Asheville, Charlotte, and sometimes Greensboro, NC. In order to make these deliveries, we require a minimum number of puppies to be delivered (two to the closer cities and four to Greensboro). We are located approximately 30 minutes north of Greenville, SC, and 45 minutes south of Asheville, NC. We are two hours from Charlotte, about four hours from Raleigh, and about 3 hours from Atlanta. Occasionally we travel to other states; contact us for possible delivery arrangements. |

Q: If I send a deposit, what does that guarantee? |
| |
A: When we receive your deposit, your name will go on our waiting list or we will mark the puppy of your choice as "sold" on our website. If you are on our waiting list, you will have an opportunity to choose a puppy once the puppies reach 2-3 weeks of age (if we are going to hold any puppies back for breeding purposes, some puppies in that litter may not be available to choose from until they are 6-7 weeks old; otherwise, the puppies will be chosen at about 2-3 weeks of age). The puppies will be chosen in the order in which deposits are received. When the puppies are ready to be chosen, you must choose your puppy within 24 hours, as others are waiting to make their choices also. If we cannot reach you within 24 hours, or you have not made a decision in that time period, we will have to bypass your name and continue with the next family on the waiting list. If the puppies are already 4-5 weeks old when you put down your deposit, you will need to make your choice when you place the deposit (unless you are waiting for a future litter). We cannot hold more than one puppy for you unless you are committing to purchase more than one puppy. Your deposit can be applied to any litters we have WITHIN ONE YEAR (*see below for exception) from when we receive your deposit, but you will need to specify which litter you would like to have a puppy from. If you decide to change to a different litter, your name will be put at the bottom of that waiting list. If you have not chosen a puppy from one of our litters within a one-year period of when we receive your deposit, you will forfeit your deposit. Your deposit is non-refundable. If you are on our waiting list or have a deposit with us, please check our website frequently so you can be informed of our current and upcoming litters.
* PLEASE NOTE: If you have a deposit on a puppy and then decide to switch to a different puppy when your puppy is five weeks old or older, or you change your mind about getting a puppy, there is a $200 penalty, since we would have taken your puppy off the Available Puppies page and possibly missed out on a buyer for him/her. If, for any reason, you ask us to keep your puppy until he or she is seven-eight weeks of age, and then you decide to switch to a younger puppy or wait for a different litter, the amount you have paid on your puppy is NOT refundable; we will allow your initial $100 deposit to be placed on another puppy, but the remainder of your payment will not be refunded or applied to a younger puppy. |

Q: If I am first on the WAITING LIST, does that mean I get first choice of the puppies in a litter? |
| |
A: As breeders, we reserve the option of holding back up to two puppies in a litter. When we receive your deposit, your name will go on our waiting list for a particular litter. The puppies will be chosen in the order in which deposits are received. Once you are notified, you must be available to choose your puppy within 24 hours, as others are waiting to make their choice also. If we cannot reach you within that time period, we will have to bypass your name and continue with the next family on the waiting list. If the puppies are already 4-5 weeks old when you put down your deposit, and those on the waiting list have already chosen, you will need to make your choice when you place the deposit (unless you are waiting for a future litter). We cannot hold more than one puppy for you unless you are committing to purchase more than one puppy. Your deposit is non-refundable. Please read more about our deposit/payment policies in the above question. |

Q: What happens if I don't find a puppy I like in this litter? |
A: Your deposit can be applied to any litters we have (*see exception below) WITHIN ONE YEAR from when we receive your deposit. However, if there are others on the waiting list for the litter you choose, your name will go after the ones already on the waiting list. If you have not chosen a puppy from one of our litters within a one-year period of when we received your deposit, you will forfeit your deposit.

Q: How do I make a deposit and/or pay for a puppy? |
| |
A: A deposit of $100 is required to reserve your puppy; this deposit is applied to the price of the puppy. Our preferred method of payment for deposits is PayPal. The $100 deposit is non-refundable, but may be applied to a puppy from a future litter for up to one year from when the deposit is received. When you pick out your puppy, one half of the balance is due. Final payment is due IN CASH when you pick up your puppy. If you are placing a deposit on a puppy with fewer than two weeks before delivery or pick-up, please contact us for payment arrangements (personal checks will not be accepted unless there is time for the check to clear).

Q: Why do you require a spay/neuter contract? |
A: Please read the benefits of spaying/neutering on the Information page. In addition to these reasons for spaying/neutering, one of our goals is to help in the process of establishing Cockapoos as a breed. This requires a great deal of education and knowledge concerning breeding in general and Cockapoos in particular, including many genetics issues. Dogs used for breeding should meet the requirements of the Cockapoo standard, as well as have testing done for CERF, patellas, and possibly DNA. Please read more about the Cockapoo Standard on the American Cockapoo Club website. |

Q: What if I want my dog to have a litter of puppies? |
A: Most of the puppies we sell are wonderful pets, but they may not be good for breeding stock. If you are interested in possibly breeding Cockapoos, becoming a Guardian Home can give you a chance to start out with good breeding stock and determine if breeding is truly for you. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a Guardian Home. Only local families may apply, as we must have access to both males and females in our Guardian Homes. |

Q: Will you sell to a breeder? |
A: We are willing to sell to a qualified breeder, at our discretion. The puppies we hold back for breeding may be priced higher than puppies sold as pets since we have determined that they are most likely exceptional puppies. Please contact us to find out more about our policy of selling to breeders. |
| |
Q: Do you sell puppies to just anyone? |
A: Sugar and Spice Cockapoos, LLC, reserves the right not to sell to an individual(s) at our discretion. If we decide not to sell to a buyer because we are not comfortable with a situation, we will refund any monies paid by that individual. We do NOT sell to brokers or pet stores or supply puppies for auctions. |
